AMD’s cutting-edge Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 395 and Ryzen AI Max Pro 390 “Strix Halo” APUs have been benchmarked, showcasing impressive performance metrics. With these chips set to power high-performance laptops, they deliver GPU capabilities rivaling NVIDIA’s RTX 3060 12 GB discrete graphics card.
AMD Ryzen AI Max Pro 395 & 390 “Strix Halo” Benchmark Details
AMD’s Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 395 and Ryzen AI Max Pro 390 have been making headlines due to leaked benchmark results, revealing their capability to handle demanding tasks. Recent tests on PassMark highlight the performance of these advanced APUs, featuring Radeon 8060S and 8050S integrated GPUs based on the RDNA 3.5 architecture.
The AMD Ryzen AI Max Pro 390, which has surfaced on PassMark, boasts a base clock speed of 3.20 GHz—200 MHz faster than the Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 395, whose base clock is listed as 3.00 GHz. Both chips come equipped with high-end specifications, making them suitable for intensive workloads like content creation and AI-driven tasks.
The Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 395 features a 16-core, 32-thread configuration, while the Ryzen AI Max Pro 390 may either mirror this setup or feature a 12-core, 24-thread architecture. Despite differences in GPU configurations, both models are designed to provide exceptional processing and graphical power.
Impressive GPU and CPU Performance
In the CPU Mark test, the Ryzen AI Max Pro 390 scored an impressive 46,471 points, trailing the Max+ Pro 395 by only 6%, which scored 49,510 points. This places the 390 approximately 31% ahead of the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, which achieved 35,388 points. Meanwhile, AMD’s Ryzen 9 7940HX, based on the Zen 4 architecture, scored higher at 54,454 points, with the Ryzen 9 7945HX3D leading at 57,430 points.
The integrated GPU performance of the Ryzen AI Max Pro 390 even surpassed the 395 model, delivering 16,663 points compared to the 15,965 points achieved by the Radeon 8060S in the 395 APU. These scores indicate that the Radeon 8050S iGPU in the 390 APU offers exceptional performance, nearly on par with NVIDIA’s RTX 3060 12 GB discrete GPU.
High-End Laptop Configurations
Both Ryzen AI Max Pro APUs were tested on systems equipped with 64 GB of LPDDR5X memory and 1 TB of SSD storage, with the 390 APU supporting a Gen5 SSD. These configurations highlight AMD’s focus on delivering premium hardware for professionals and gamers alike.
Anticipated Launch at CES
These new Ryzen APUs are expected to debut at CES, alongside additional hardware from AMD, including the Radeon RX 9000 series GPUs. Their blend of processing power and GPU performance positions them as strong contenders in the laptop market.
