Warner Bros. Games has released an exciting new trailer for Mortal Kombat 1, giving fans a thrilling first look at two iconic guest characters: Conan the Barbarian and the T-1000 Terminator. This new trailer, showcasing intense action and brutal gameplay, also offers additional details about the upcoming DLC fighters.
Conan the Barbarian’s Savage Gameplay and Brutality
The trailer reveals Conan the Barbarian in all his brutal glory. The game captures Conan’s brutal fighting style, showing the warrior decimating his opponent with an impressive “Brutality” move that cuts them in half using his legendary sword. Although Arnold Schwarzenegger’s likeness is featured in the game, his voice is not used, with a different actor providing the vocal performance.
Conan the Barbarian will be available starting January 21, 2025, as part of the Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns expansion, with early access for expansion owners. He will be widely accessible a week later.
T-1000 Terminator Joins the Mortal Kombat Roster
Alongside Conan, the trailer also introduces T-1000 Terminator, one of the most anticipated guest characters in Mortal Kombat 1. T-1000’s appearance draws direct inspiration from the Terminator 2: Judgment Day movie, with his fluid metal form transforming back into human shape in a scene that harkens back to one of the film’s most iconic moments. T-1000’s look is based on Robert Patrick, the actor who portrayed the character in the 1991 film, and Patrick himself voices the character in the game.
T-1000 Terminator is part of the Khaos Reigns DLC and is set to be the final DLC character released for Mortal Kombat 1 as part of this expansion. Release timing for T-1000’s availability will be announced at a later date, but fans can expect him to join the roster soon after Conan’s release.
The Impact of Mortal Kombat 1’s Success and Future DLC Plans
As the Mortal Kombat 1 DLC roster expands, fans are speculating whether NetherRealm Studios will continue to release more DLC characters. Mortal Kombat 1 has sold over four million copies worldwide, signaling great commercial success. In November 2024, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav revealed that the company is focusing its efforts on just four titles, including Mortal Kombat. This suggests a strong commitment to supporting the franchise long-term.
NetherRealm Studios has confirmed that they will continue to support Mortal Kombat 1 for years to come. Fans of the studio’s work are hoping for a third installment in the Injustice series, though neither Warner Bros. nor NetherRealm has officially confirmed plans for another Injustice game.
More DLC Characters in the Khaos Reigns Expansion
The Khaos Reigns DLC expansion has already introduced several exciting characters, including Cyrax, Sektor, Noob Saibot, and Ghostface. The addition of Conan the Barbarian and T-1000 Terminator wraps up the current slate of DLC characters for the game. However, players are eagerly awaiting announcements regarding any potential future content and updates.
