Google has officially rolled out Android 15 to the AOSP (Android Open Source Project), and the final public release is anticipated to land sometime this month. The expected release window is mid-October, but whether the company will follow through depends on the software’s readiness. If any last-minute bugs or issues emerge, the launch could be delayed for several days or even a few weeks.
The Android 15 update will be available for all eligible Pixel devices, starting from the Pixel 6 all the way to the latest Pixel 9 series. Notably, Google chose to release the Pixel 9 earlier this year with Android 14 pre-installed, deviating from their usual strategy of debuting new hardware with the latest software. While the Pixel 9 currently operates on last year’s version of Android, the device is still powerful, but users are eagerly awaiting Android 15’s fresh features, particularly the AI enhancements tailored for the Pixel 9 lineup.
What to Expect from Android 15 on Pixel Devices
The rollout is anticipated to begin around 10:00 AM PT, which aligns with Google’s usual schedule and mirrors when Apple typically releases its updates. However, there may be slight changes in timing, as Google is reportedly experimenting with its release schedule. Although earlier reports suggest that October 15 is a likely release date, this has yet to be confirmed, and we advise staying updated for further announcements. We will continue to provide detailed coverage as soon as Android 15 becomes available, so be sure to check back regularly.
