Following the successful release of the Pixel 9 series, Google is now setting its sights on unveiling its next mid-range smartphone, the Pixel 9a. This model is expected to deliver flagship-level features while remaining budget-friendly. As Google gears up for this major launch, several leaks have surfaced, providing details about the design and specs of the upcoming Pixel 9a. The latest leak reveals a new camera module that is streamlined, departing from the typical visor look seen in previous Pixel models. Additionally, we now have more insights into the phone’s color options and design tweaks.
Pixel 9a Leak Suggests Four Color Options and a Thinner Design Than Its Predecessor
Recent renderings showcased the updated camera design for the Pixel 9a, which will no longer feature the traditional visor. Instead, it opts for a sleeker and more refined look. Another recent leak has surfaced, shedding more light on the device’s dimensions and the potential color options.
According to reports from Android Headlines, the Pixel 9a will be available in four distinct color variants, including the familiar Porcelain and Obsidian hues. A new Peony color is said to closely resemble the pink shade seen in the Pixel 9, and an Iris option will introduce a shade that is near a purple tone, adding a fresh twist to the palette.
In addition to these new colors, the Pixel 9a’s dimensions will also receive an update. The phone is expected to be slightly larger and wider than its predecessor, with a thinner overall profile. Earlier leaks hinted at a slimmer design, and this new information suggests that the Pixel 9a will measure 154 x 73 x 8.6mm, making it thinner than the Pixel 8a, which measured 152.1 x 72.7 x 8.9mm.
Although no specific details about the screen size have been confirmed, it is likely that the Pixel 9a will feature a larger display given the updated dimensions. The reported measurements are quite similar to the standard Pixel 9, with the primary difference being the slightly thicker bezels on the 9a model.
The removal of the iconic Pixel camera bar is the most significant design change revealed in these leaks. This shift could also impact the phone’s internal components, such as the battery size. While no official release date has been announced, the Pixel 9a is expected to launch in mid-2025. However, as seen with the earlier release of the Pixel 9 series, Google might surprise everyone with an earlier launch.
