Apple managed to reduce the bezel size on its new iPhone 16 Pro Max, and rumors suggest that Samsung plans to do the same with its upcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra. In fact, the buzz is that Samsung may go one step further, offering bezels that are even thinner than those on Apple’s flagship model.
This information comes from the well-known tipster Ice Universe, who claims that Samsung has achieved bezels that are 0.2mm thinner compared to the Galaxy S24 Ultra. A leaked image also shows the smaller bezel on the Galaxy S25 Ultra when placed side by side with the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Exact measurements for these bezels haven’t been revealed, as manufacturers typically don’t publish such specs. However, prior to the launch of the iPhone 16 Pro Max, it was rumored that the bezels would be around 1.15mm thick.
Comparing the renders provided by Ice Universe, it does appear that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will have slimmer bezels. While the difference may seem minimal, thinner bezels are certainly on the horizon for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, potentially setting it apart from the competition in 2025.
This particular leak doesn’t mention the bezel sizes for the standard Galaxy S25 or the Galaxy S25 Plus, but Ice Universe has shared another leaked image comparing the frame thickness of the Galaxy S25 to the Ultra model.
In this image, the camera bump on the Galaxy S25 is shown to be 1.8mm thick, which is slimmer than the 2.4mm bump on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Overall, the Galaxy S25 is expected to have a thickness of 7.2mm, slightly down from the 7.6mm on the Galaxy S24.
Another notable feature is the somewhat unusual design of the camera lens coverings. According to the leaks, the Galaxy S25 (and presumably the Galaxy S25 Plus) will feature a “double-layer design” on the camera lenses, creating a lip around the edge, somewhat reminiscent of a Super Mario warp pipe.
If Samsung sticks to its usual launch schedule, we can expect the Galaxy S25 series to be unveiled sometime in January 2025. Other leaks have indicated that the standard models will see minimal design changes, while the Ultra model could get extra RAM and some additional tweaks.
