Samsung appears to be joining the growing trend of slimmer smartphone designs, as a “Slim” variant of the Galaxy S25 has recently been spotted in database listings. This aligns with a broader industry shift toward sleek, streamlined devices, as consumers increasingly prioritize modern aesthetics alongside high-performance features.
While Samsung’s development of a slimmer Galaxy S25 model has been rumored for some time, a recent report from ET News suggests that both Samsung and Apple are engaging in a “Slim phone” competition, with plans to introduce thinner versions of the Galaxy S25 and iPhone 17 by mid-2025. Now, SmartPrix has shared a new listing in the GSMA IMEI database that includes a Galaxy model with the number SM-S937U, indicating that Samsung is actively testing a device that could be the anticipated “Slim” version.
Upcoming Slim Galaxy S25 Design Details
The database entry for Samsung’s latest project suggests that the Galaxy S25 Slim could arrive about six months after its appearance in the development database, hinting at a 2025 release. The “U” in the model number often signifies a U.S. release, although further details remain scarce. To achieve a thinner design, Samsung may need to make adjustments to both the processor and display, potentially leading to an innovative redesign of the Galaxy S25’s profile.
Growing Slim Smartphone Trend in the Industry
Samsung is not alone in exploring slimmer smartphones. Rumors indicate that Apple is developing an iPhone 17 “Slim” model, which could launch around the same time as Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Slim. Expected in Q3 of 2025, this iPhone model might even surpass the iPhone Pro Max in specific features, creating a new competition in the slim smartphone market.
The appeal of slimmer devices extends beyond aesthetics, as demand grows for lighter, sleek designs. By introducing these models, Samsung and Apple could be setting a trend for other tech companies to follow, resulting in a new category of devices that merge style and functionality.
With slimmer versions of flagship models, both Samsung and Apple are addressing a market segment that values design alongside advanced technology. Should this trend continue, we may see an influx of slim smartphones that offer high performance in a sleek, modern package.
