In a strategic move, Google is making it more appealing for owners of older Pixel models to upgrade to the new Pixel 9. Previously criticized for offering low trade-in values for its own devices compared to those from Apple and Samsung, Google has now introduced more generous trade-in offers. These offers give loyal customers better value for their older models, encouraging them to stay within the Pixel ecosystem.
Unprecedented Trade-In Offers for Pixel Owners
If you own a Pixel Fold, Pixel 8, or Pixel 8 Pro, Google is offering some of the highest trade-in credits available. For instance, Pixel Fold owners can receive up to $760 in trade-in credit, regardless of storage size, making it an attractive option for upgrading to the new Pixel 9. This move not only enhances the value of owning a Pixel but also strengthens customer loyalty.
Visiting Google’s U.S. online store reveals that the trade-in values remain consistent across the board for any Pixel 9 model you choose to upgrade to. Notably, the Pixel 8 Pro offers a trade-in credit of $699, while the Pixel Fold’s offer stands out as the highest at $760.
Comparing Trade-In Values with Competitors
When comparing Google’s trade-in values with those of Apple and Samsung, Google’s offers appear even more competitive. Owners of the iPhone 15 Pro can trade in their device for any Pixel 9 model and receive a $600 credit, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max fetches a trade-in value of $720. Although the Pixel Fold’s trade-in value is higher at $760, it is important to remember that the original cost of the Pixel Fold was $1,799, compared to $1,199 for the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Despite this, Apple’s high-end models tend to retain their value longer, which is a factor to consider.
As for Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra owners, trading in for a Pixel 9 will earn them a $650 credit, which is slightly less than what Pixel 8 Pro owners would receive.
Additional Incentives and Offers
Beyond trade-in values, Google is offering a $200 store credit for customers upgrading to the Pixel 9 Pro or Pixel 9 Pro XL, but this offer expires on August 28. If you are exploring other options, Amazon provides an enticing deal, offering a $350 gift card if you pre-order the Pixel 9.
Google’s aggressive approach with these trade-in deals and additional offers highlights their commitment to capturing the market with the latest Pixel 9 launch. This is a prime opportunity for current Pixel users and potential switchers to maximize their investment.
