House of the Dragon season 3 is anticipated to begin filming sometime in 2025.
Spread the word far and wide—House of the Dragon season 3 is on the horizon. Yes, the highly popular Game of Thrones prequel series is returning for another season, and we’re here to bring you all the latest updates and rumors about its progress before it finally graces our screens.
We’ve gathered all the inside information on House of the Dragon’s third season, thanks to our sources working behind the scenes. From our predictions on its release date to the likely cast and possible storylines, we have plenty of exciting details to share with you.
As of now, HBO has not announced the exact release date for House of the Dragon season 3. However, the network confirmed on June 13 that the critically acclaimed fantasy series would be returning for a third season.
Just days before the official renewal, co-showrunner Ryan Condal informed TechLoot that work on the next season was already in progress. He mentioned that scriptwriting had been underway for quite some time, though the number of completed scripts remains unknown.
So, when can we expect season 3 to premiere? During a press conference following the season 2 finale, Condal revealed (as reported by IGN) that the cast and crew were planning to start filming the third season in “early-ish 2025.” If principal photography for season 3 takes around five months to finish—similar to previous seasons—filming would likely conclude by July or August 2025. Given the nine-month gap between the end of season 2’s filming and its release date, we might not see House of the Dragon season 3 until April or May 2026.
Will there be a teaser or trailer before then? Not likely. It’s expected that we won’t see any promotional material until much closer to the season 3 premiere, possibly not until early 2026.
