The recently launched AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D CPU has been put through benchmark testing, proving it is faster in gaming than the Ryzen 9000 series while consuming less power.
Faster Than Ryzen 9600X and 9700X, More Power-Efficient
The AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D processor, recently made available at select retailers such as Microcenter in the US and Mindfactory in Germany, was tested by PC Games Hardware, showcasing its impressive potential in gaming. It performed competitively alongside many other AMD and Intel processors in both gaming and productivity tests.
While the Ryzen 7600X3D doesn’t excel in productivity tasks, its gaming performance is outstanding, closely matching some of AMD’s high-end X3D and non-X3D chips. In comparison to Intel’s Core i5 13600K and 14600K, the 7600X3D holds its ground, and it even surpasses the newly introduced Ryzen 9600X and 9700X in several benchmarks.
Gaming Benchmarks Across Popular Titles
Benchmarks were conducted across nine games, including heavy hitters like Baldur’s Gate 3, F1 2024, and graphically demanding titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Ghost of Tsushima, and Starfield. In some games, the 7600X3D ranked among the top 5 performers, while overall it secured the 9th position, closely trailing behind Intel’s 13600K and 14600K.
In terms of AMD’s lineup, only the Ryzen 7 7800X3D and Ryzen 9 7950X3D managed to outperform the 7600X3D, but this is expected given their superior specs and higher price points.
Performance Comparison with Other CPUs
The Ryzen 7600X3D outshined the pricier Ryzen 9 7900X3D by 4% and the Zen 3-based 5800X3D by 7%. Interestingly, the new Zen 5 mid-range CPUs could not beat the 7600X3D. The Ryzen 9600X lagged 14% behind, while the Ryzen 9700X trailed by 6%, despite the latter costing $60 more.
Limited Availability and Pricing
Unfortunately, due to limited distribution, the Ryzen 5 7600X3D won’t be available worldwide. Priced at $300, this CPU is not the most cost-effective option, especially when compared to Intel’s Core i5 14600K and 13600K, which provide superior gaming performance and excel in productivity. Additionally, the 7600X3D lacks overclocking capabilities, limiting its flexibility for enthusiasts.
Power Efficiency: A Standout Feature
Where the 7600X3D truly shines is in its power efficiency. It consumes only 48 to 55 watts during gaming and productivity tasks, setting a new standard for FPS per watt in the industry. This makes it an ideal choice for gamers looking for power efficiency in a 6-core, 12-thread CPU, though it may fall short in productivity-focused tasks due to its lower clock speeds.
