AMD’s highly anticipated Ryzen 9000X3D “3D V-Cache” Desktop CPUs have reportedly been delayed, with the new expected unveiling set for CES 2025.
AMD Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs to Debut at CES 2025, Bringing Next-Level 3D V-Cache Performance for Gamers
The Ryzen 9000X3D processors, featuring AMD’s advanced 3D V-Cache technology, were initially expected to launch in late 2024, with October pegged as the potential reveal date. However, recent reports suggest that this timeline has shifted, with the official unveiling now anticipated during CES 2025.
Although AMD had not publicly announced the original launch timeframe for the Ryzen 9000X3D series, insiders revealed that the release window was communicated to major motherboard manufacturers. Now, AMD has reportedly issued a second update to these partners, indicating that the release has been pushed back to the beginning of 2025. This delay means that gamers eager for AMD’s next-generation 3D V-Cache CPUs will have to wait a bit longer to experience the enhanced gaming performance these chips promise.
Performance Expectations and Market Positioning
The Ryzen 9000 “Zen 5” Desktop CPUs have not met the performance expectations of many gamers, especially when compared to Intel’s 14th Gen offerings. AMD’s internal benchmarks had initially suggested a significant performance leap, but the reality has been less impressive. As a result, those seeking superior gaming performance might find the Ryzen 9000X3D series a more attractive option, but only when it finally hits the market.
ASUS recently teased the Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs during the reveal of its X870E/X870 motherboard lineup, but the mention was later removed, possibly indicating the ongoing adjustments in AMD’s release plans. Despite the delay, AMD is still expected to deliver new 3D V-Cache CPUs this year, with the Ryzen 5 5500X3D for the AM4 platform and the Ryzen 5 7600X3D for the AM5 platform reportedly on the horizon.
What to Expect from the Ryzen 9000X3D Series
The upcoming Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs, based on the Zen 5 architecture, are set to be a major release for gaming enthusiasts. These processors are expected to offer full overclocking support, increased LLC (Last Level Cache) counts, and improved efficiency compared to existing Zen 5 models. As CES 2025 approaches, anticipation will continue to build around these CPUs, which could set a new standard in gaming performance.
