ASUS has rolled out a new feature with its AGESA 1.2.0.1a BIOS update for its high-end AM5 motherboards. The key highlight is the introduction of the “105W TDP” mode for the AMD Ryzen 7 9700X and Ryzen 5 9600X processors, boosting performance for these 65W-class CPUs. This feature allows users to leverage higher power limits, providing better clock speeds and enhanced performance, particularly for multi-threaded applications. The update follows a similar move by MSI, and this BIOS option can be found in the AI Tweaker menu under “cTDP to 105W.”
The following ASUS motherboards support this feature:
- ROG CROSSHAIR X670E HERO BETA BIOS 2307
- ROG CROSSHAIR X670E GENE BETA BIOS 2307
- ROG CROSSHAIR X670E EXTREME BETA BIOS 2307
- ROG STRIX X670E-A GAMING WIFI BETA BIOS 2307
- ROG STRIX X670E-E GAMING WIFI BETA BIOS 2307
- ROG STRIX X670E-F GAMING WIFI BETA BIOS 2307
- PROART X670E CREATOR WIFI BETA BIOS 2307
This new BIOS feature is currently in BETA, but the official 105W TDP mode will be fully introduced in the AGESA 1.2.0.2 BIOS update. It’s an exciting addition for power users, enabling higher-TDP options to improve performance in demanding applications.
