Is the upcoming Indiana Jones game coming to PS5? Titled “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle,” this game is initially set as an Xbox exclusive. However, the certainty of this exclusivity may not be set in stone, considering the fluid nature of game platform exclusivity in recent times. Below, we explore the prospects of this title making its way to PlayStation 5.
A Temporary Xbox Exclusivity?
For now, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is confirmed solely for Xbox, with a launch window aimed for sometime in 2024. Microsoft’s Gaming Chief, Phil Spencer, has indicated that there are currently no plans to bring the game to PS5 at launch or even afterward.
However, it’s crucial to contextualize these statements. The term “exclusive” has increasingly become more flexible. Notably, Xbox has transitioned several previously exclusive titles to PS5, and similarly, the PS5-exclusive Deathloop has been made available on Xbox Game Pass.
While the strategy appears to keep Indiana Jones exclusive to Xbox platforms initially, shifts in the gaming industry could influence this stance. The financial viability of Game Pass has been questioned, with revenues reportedly falling short of expectations, which could impact the distribution strategy of high-cost games like Indiana Jones.
Furthermore, the recent closure of some Bethesda studios, under the Microsoft umbrella, might push Xbox to maximize revenue from its games sooner rather than later. This financial imperative could lead to a broader release strategy, potentially including PS5 to access a larger audience.
Though this is speculative, the dynamic nature of the gaming industry suggests that the door isn’t completely closed on a future PS5 release. Fans holding out hope for playing Indiana Jones on their PlayStation consoles may find their patience rewarded in time.
