A new developer journal for the upcoming game Assassin’s Creed Shadows has surfaced online, first posted by IGN China. This dev journal, which is just under five minutes long, offers a glimpse into the dynamic world players will soon experience. Due to the popularity of the site that released the footage, it’s expected that the video may be taken down quickly. The hype around Assassin’s Creed Shadows is building, with numerous leaks appearing, some of which reveal intriguing gameplay features. One key feature is a dynamic weather system that will directly impact how players approach different scenarios.
For instance, rainy weather will help muffle your movements, making it harder for enemies to detect you. On the flip side, when crossing large bodies of water, you might need to wait until winter, when the water freezes, allowing you to traverse across the ice.
The journal also showcases a new animation system designed to enhance immersion, creating a world that feels more vibrant and realistic. Players are also introduced to their customizable ‘Hideout,’ a space that includes one acre of land for constructing their operations base. You’ll be able to build key structures like an armory, dojo, and altar. Every aspect of the hideout, from the roof design to the wall colors, is customizable, offering players the freedom to design their own sanctuary.
In exclusive footage shared with Insider Gaming, a deeper look into the Hideout was revealed. It’s been described as similar to the system in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, but with notable improvements and expansions.
Despite being smaller than Valhalla but larger than Mirage, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is shaping up to be Ubisoft’s most ambitious title yet. The game is set for release on November 12, 2024, and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
