The TechLoot team had an exclusive opportunity to try out Terry Bogard, the legendary fighter from the Fatal Fury and The King of Fighters series, in the latest installment of Street Fighter 6 at this year’s Gamescom. Terry’s arrival in this game marks a significant milestone for the series, as he is the first guest character in the history of Street Fighter, which highlights the importance of this event.
Our team eagerly began testing, and despite the less-than-ideal conditions at Gamescom, we managed to gain a solid understanding of what Terry brings to the game. Even after just a few matches, it became clear that Terry will be a formidable force in the Street Fighter 6 arena. His moves are powerful, dynamic, and perfectly balanced, making him a serious contender on the tier lists.
Terry boasts a wide range of moves that set him apart from other characters. His Crack Shoot move, reminiscent of a similar move from G in previous games, proved to be extremely useful, giving him an edge in attacks without the need to spend additional meter. Additionally, his super moves, like Power Geyser, come with extra variations that only enhance his lethality.
What impressed us the most is how faithfully Terry has been recreated from the original games in Street Fighter 6. His moves and fighting style remain true to their roots but are now enhanced with modern elements that cater to the new generation of players. Moves like Passing Sway, where Terry steps out of frame and returns with an attack, offer new strategic possibilities and the chance to surprise opponents.
Of course, it would be premature to make final judgments on how Terry will hold up against other characters like Ken, Cammy, and Akuma, but one thing is certain – his presence will definitely shake up the scene. With his unique fighting style, Terry is sure to bring a fresh dynamic to Street Fighter 6 when he officially becomes available on September 24th. Alongside his release, we also look forward to the new stage, Pao Pao Cafè, which will further enrich the gameplay experience.
