Bugbear Entertainment has officially announced the highly anticipated release of Wreckfest 2, the next chapter in their critically acclaimed racing series. Following in the footsteps of 2018’s spiritual successor to Flatout, this new installment was revealed at the latest THQ Nordic Showcase. A few years ago, rumors circulated that Bugbear’s new project would be titled Stuntfest, but these were eventually debunked.
Instead, Bugbear is developing the long-awaited sequel, which features a completely new version of the ROMU engine. This update aims to provide unparalleled fidelity and precision in vehicle dynamics simulation and demolition physics, setting a new standard for racing games.
The standout feature introduced today is advanced vehicle customization, offering players unprecedented freedom to modify their vehicles and improve sharing capabilities with others. The Finnish developers also emphasized the significantly enhanced sound system, which they consider a game-changer, setting it among the best in any car racing title to date.
Wreckfest 2 promises a variety of race modes, including career mode, with both single-player and multiplayer options available. Players can expect regular content updates, exciting challenges, and extensive modding support. The game is set to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X at a yet-to-be-disclosed date, but eager fans can add the game to their wishlist now.
This new installment in the Wreckfest series aims to captivate both new players and long-time fans with its innovative features and commitment to delivering an engaging and realistic racing experience. Stay tuned for more updates as Bugbear Entertainment continues to refine what promises to be one of the most exciting racing games on the horizon.
