Apple has been working on integrating Rich Communication Services (RCS) into iPhones for some time, providing enhanced messaging features and improved media sharing for users. With the release of iOS 18, this long-awaited feature is finally available, significantly improving the iPhone messaging experience. However, whether you can use RCS depends on whether your carrier supports it, so it’s important to check if this feature is available through your provider.

With iOS 18, Apple has introduced RCS support, marking a big step forward in its messaging platform. Users who have been looking for more advanced messaging tools and better quality when exchanging photos and videos will be pleased to see these features finally arriving on the iPhone.
To find out if your carrier supports RCS, you can visit Apple’s Wireless Carrier Support page. This page lists all carriers that offer RCS support for iPhone users with the iOS 18 update. Major networks such as T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon have been offering RCS for some time, but new carriers in regions like Canada, Asia, and Europe have also joined the list.
Previously, iPhone users had difficulty exchanging files, GIFs, and emojis with Android users, often due to quality issues. Thanks to RCS, those problems will now be solved. Additionally, users will receive read receipts in RCS-supported chats. These messages may still look like regular texts but will be labeled “Text Message-RCS” when you’re chatting with Android users.
In the coming months, more carriers are expected to enable RCS for iPhone. If you’ve already downloaded iOS 18, you can check if RCS is activated by going to Settings, selecting Apps, and navigating to Messages. If RCS doesn’t appear, it means your carrier hasn’t enabled it yet.
