Apple has made significant upgrades to the battery sizes in the entire iPhone 16 lineup. These new batteries are notably larger compared to those in last year’s iPhone 15 models. By combining these bigger battery capacities with a more efficient processor and improved thermal management, the iPhone 16 series promises a noticeable performance boost over previous versions. Although Apple didn’t disclose exact battery specs during the launch event, they did highlight better battery life across the lineup.
Battery Capacities for iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro Leaked
While Apple typically shares battery life improvements in terms of usage hours during their presentations, regulatory information from Brazilian agency Anatel (via Blog do iPhone) reveals the actual battery capacities for the iPhone 16 models. Below are the specifics, showing notable improvements over the iPhone 15 models.
- iPhone 16: 3,561 mAh (6.3% larger than the iPhone 15)
- iPhone 16 Plus: 4,674 mAh (6.6% larger than the iPhone 15 Plus)
- iPhone 16 Pro: 3,582 mAh (9.4% larger than the iPhone 15 Pro)
- iPhone 16 Pro Max: 4,685 mAh (6% larger than the iPhone 15 Pro Max)
The biggest increase comes with the iPhone 16 Pro, which boasts a nearly 10% larger battery capacity than its predecessor. This significant increase is attributed to the larger chassis and the taller display, following Apple’s decision to increase the screen size. The iPhone 16 Pro Max, while still featuring the largest battery in the lineup, remains to be tested in real-world conditions to see how it compares to the battery life of the iPhone 16 Plus.
Interesting Comparison: iPhone 16 Plus vs. iPhone 16 Pro Max
Apple had previously promoted the battery life of the iPhone 15 Plus as one of the best among its models. One reason for this is that the iPhone 16 Plus, like its predecessor, lacks features like the Always-On display and runs at a 60Hz refresh rate compared to the 120Hz ProMotion display on the Pro models. This makes the battery comparison between the iPhone 16 Plus and the Pro Max particularly intriguing.
Additional Enhancements: 25W Fast MagSafe Charging
In addition to the larger battery cells, the iPhone 16 series now supports faster MagSafe charging, reaching speeds of up to 25W. However, to achieve this maximum charging speed, users will need a 30W charger. We’ll be looking forward to seeing how these changes perform in real-world tests, so stay tuned for more insights on which iPhone 16 model offers the best battery performance.
