This week’s spotlight has been on the latest releases from Apple, the new iPad Pro and iPad Air. As we move deeper into the year, attention is shifting to what Apple has in store for its 2024 iPhone lineup. A fascinating detail about the iPhone 16 Pro has surfaced.
A reliable source, Instant Digital, shared on the Chinese social media platform Weibo (as reported by MacRumors), that the iPhone 16 Pro will feature an SDR (Standard Dynamic Range) brightness of 1,200 nits, a notable increase from the 1,000 nits on the iPhone 15 Pro.
The peak HDR (High Dynamic Range) brightness will continue to be 1,600 nits, based on the latest laboratory data. It’s yet unclear if the iPhone 16 Pro Max will receive a similar update.
Since the launch of the iPhone 13 Pro in 2021, the SDR brightness on Apple’s premium models has remained the same. An enhancement in the iPhone 16 Pro could lead to a significantly brighter display during daily use.
Emerging Insights on the iPhone 16
Despite the launch date being several months away in September 2024, the rumor mill has been bustling with insights about the iPhone 16 series.
It appears the new iPhones may not incorporate the tandem OLED technology found in the high-end 2024 iPad Pros. However, there might be an aesthetic upgrade with a new polished titanium finish for the Pro and Pro Max models.
Camera enhancements are also on the horizon, with a new lens coating purported to boost photo and video quality for the Pro models. Additionally, there’s talk of a redesigned camera array for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, arranging the lenses vertically.
