iPhone 17 “Slim” to Be Apple’s Highest-End Handset with Specs Comparable to the iPhone 17, ‘Pro’ Models to Feature Better Internals
As the announcement of the iPhone 16 draws near, various details about the lineup have surfaced. Based on multiple reports, it is speculated that the design of the ‘Pro’ models will be similar to the current variants. Meanwhile, Apple has major plans for the iPhone 17 lineup, including the introduction of a new ‘Slim’ variant with radical design changes. A leaker has now shared details about the iPhone 17 lineup, including internal specifications, display upgrades, and more.
iPhone 17 Slim Expected to Be Apple’s Highest-End Handset with an A19 Pro Chip, but Camera Sensors Suggest Otherwise
Early reports indicated that Apple would replace the iPhone 17 Plus model with a new “Slim” model, positioned above the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Based on this information, the Slim model will be marketed as the highest-end variant. If this news holds true, the iPhone 16 Plus could be the last of its kind, launching later this year. Ice Universe shared this information on Weibo, stating that next year’s iPhone lineup will be significantly different from the current one. Here are the details we know so far:
- iPhone 17: 6.27-inch LTPO display with a $799 price
- iPhone 17 Pro: 6.27-inch LTPO display with a $1,099 price
- iPhone 17 Pro Max: 6.86-inch LTPO display with a $1,199 price
- iPhone 17 “Slim”: 6.65-inch LTPO display with a $1,299 price
All four iPhone 17 models are expected to feature an LTPO display, meaning that ProMotion technology could finally make its way to the standard iPhone model. This would allow the iPhone 17 to boast a 120Hz refresh rate for the first time, which may be reflected in its price. ProMotion has been a feature in the ‘Pro’ models for some time, and it’s about time it trickled down to the lower-cost versions of the device.
The iPhone 17 Pro models will also receive substantial upgrades, including up to 12GB of RAM and a triple-lens camera setup with upgraded sensors. Additionally, these devices are expected to come with improved internals, including the A19 Pro chip based on TSMC’s 2nm process, offering enhanced computational and graphical performance.
Regarding the iPhone 17 Slim, it is also rumored to come with an A19 Pro chip, similar to the ‘Pro’ models. However, Apple might alter the number of cores in the chip to distinguish it as the highest-end model of the series. Despite this, the “Slim” is expected to feature a dual-camera design with an aluminum chassis and 8GB of RAM.
It remains unclear why Apple would position the iPhone 17 Slim as the highest-end model while keeping its internals and camera hardware similar to the non-Pro models. Therefore, we advise readers to take this news with a grain of salt. The information about the Slim model is still developing, and more details may emerge as its launch approaches. Do you think the iPhone 17 Slim will be a superior model compared to the ‘Pro’ models? Let us know in the comments.
