iPhone SE 4 to Launch Early with Internals Matching the Performance of the iPhone 16, OLED Display, Face ID, and USB-C Part of the Upgrade
A prominent leaker recently stated that Apple plans to replace the iPhone 17 Plus with a new ‘Slim’ model, featuring an entirely new design. The company appears to have numerous plans for its handsets, as it is also working on the fourth iteration of the iPhone SE lineup. It is now rumored that the company will launch the iPhone SE 4 early, equipped with an OLED display and an upgraded camera setup at the back.
iPhone SE 4 Expected to Launch Sooner Than Anticipated, Featuring Major Upgrades and Powerful Internals Comparable to the Upcoming iPhone 16 Models
The iPhone SE 4 will debut with a plethora of significant updates, which have been rumored for quite some time, ranging from the device’s design to its features. This news was shared in a post on Weibo by leaker Ice Universe, who has a credible track record of sharing accurate details regarding Apple products. The leaker claims that the iPhone SE 4 will launch sooner than expected, early next year, with some major upgrades, including a new design and display technology.
The forthcoming iPhone SE 4 is slated to feature an OLED display, a substantial upgrade from the SE 3, which houses an LCD panel. The display size is also expected to increase, with the handset likely to feature an iPhone 16-like design. If the rumors hold true, we could see the screen size increase to 6.1 inches. Recently, it was reported that the iPhone SE 4 would be identical to the iPhone 16 from the back, as both devices are slated to use the same backplate process.
In terms of additional features, the new SE will include Face ID instead of Touch ID in the Home Button, thanks to the larger edge-to-edge display. It is suspected that Apple will use a smaller iteration of the notch on the budget iPhone, which is more modern compared to the notch introduced with the iPhone X. USB-C is also expected to be part of the upgrade, meaning the device will be ready for modern-day accessories. Currently, the iPhone SE 3 features a Lightning port, which has been the company’s standard port solution for over a decade.
The display will see a size increase from 4.7 inches to 6.06 inches, a significant upgrade considering it will be an OLED panel instead of an LCD. Despite these upgrades, the internals of the device will be one of the key aspects, as the iPhone SE 4 is rumored to come with an A18 chip, the same chip planned for the iPhone 16 lineup, coupled with 6GB to 8GB of RAM configuration.
As for the launch timeline, it is possible that Apple will introduce the device in the Spring of 2025, meaning the iPhone SE 4 could arrive between March and May. Earlier speculations suggested that the SE 4 will be priced well below the standard models, making it an appealing deal for many, with a price range between $499 to $549. Would you choose to buy the iPhone SE 4 or the upcoming iPhone 16?
