Last week, Apple officially released iOS 18, allowing users to customize their Home Screens with a wide variety of tools, color schemes, and layouts. However, one key feature remains absent, keeping iOS 18 from realizing its full potential as an upgrade over iOS 17. Reports now indicate that Apple Intelligence, bundled with an enhanced Siri experience, will be arriving sooner than expected.
Apple to Release the New Siri Experience with Apple Intelligence Earlier Than Planned with iOS 18.3 Update
According to Mark Gurman in his latest Power On newsletter, Apple’s new Siri powered by Apple Intelligence will be rolled out ahead of the previously anticipated schedule. However, this won’t be a complete release. Instead, Apple plans to distribute Siri’s new features across several updates. Some of these features could arrive as soon as iOS 18.3, breaking away from the earlier strategy of delivering everything with iOS 18.4.
If you’re wondering about the release timing, Apple generally schedules iOS X.3 updates for the first quarter. Gurman states that iOS 18.1 is expected to be ready internally by the end of this week, positioning the release for mid-October. As for iOS 18.2, Apple anticipates finalizing it by early November, aiming for a public release in December. Meanwhile, iOS 18.3 is expected to be ready by the year’s end, with its rollout planned for January. The iOS 18.4 update, however, is targeted for March, with internal testing expected to conclude by February.
iOS 18.1 will mark Apple’s initial foray into integrating AI-driven features for the general public. These will include new writing tools, summarization capabilities, and many other features scattered throughout the operating system. iOS 18.2 will expand on these features and introduce additional ones like the Image Playground tool, Genmoji, and ChatGPT integration. Early next year, Siri will be integrated with ChatGPT, offering an even more sophisticated voice assistant experience.
Currently, Apple is testing iOS 18.1, which is available to developers along with all the newly added AI features. Developers can explore the latest additions now, and we will provide updates when these features are ready for public release.
