When to Expect iOS 18 on Your iPhone as Beta Testing Nears Completion

iOS 18 has been undergoing beta testing for almost three months, and the final release is expected to arrive very soon.

Here’s a detailed breakdown of when iOS 18 will likely be available on all supported iPhones.

iOS 18: Beta Testing Coming to an End

In the latest edition of his Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg indicated that iOS 18 beta 8 will most likely be the last developer beta version for the update. This aligns with previous iOS updates like iOS 17, iOS 16, and iOS 15, which also had eight developer beta versions. The last time an update had more than eight developer betas was iOS 12, with nine versions.

If Apple follows its typical release pattern, the iOS 18 Release Candidate should be rolled out shortly after the iPhone 16 event on September 9. The Release Candidate is considered to be a nearly complete version of the software.

iOS 18: Expected Release Date

Apple is expected to announce the official release date for iOS 18 during the iPhone 16 event on September 9. The most likely release date for iOS 18 is Monday, September 16, although Tuesday, September 17, and Wednesday, September 18 are also possible dates.

Gurman has also noted that iOS 18 is already being pre-installed on iPhone 16 units in Apple’s production facilities, with these devices expected to hit the market on Friday, September 20.
