WhatsApp is developing a personalized AI image generator that allows users to create unique avatars of themselves in any imagined setting. This innovative feature encourages users to “imagine yourself as anything.”
The new AI feature, spotted by WABetaInfo in the latest WhatsApp Beta for Android 2.24.14.13 update, leverages a combination of images, text prompts, and Meta’s AI Llama model to generate personalized images. According to The Verge, users can take a single photo and then imagine themselves in various scenarios, from forests to outer space.
The way it works is simple: within the Meta AI Chat, users can type prompts like “Imagine in…” or “@Meta AI imagine me…” to initiate the process. The AI will then use the user’s likeness to generate a customized image based on the given prompt.
It’s not yet clear when this feature will be rolled out more broadly on WhatsApp, but it is expected to be optional for users.
In addition to this AI image generator, WhatsApp recently introduced in-app custom stickers, which can be created instantly. This shows Meta’s ongoing commitment to enhancing AI capabilities and fostering creativity within its apps. Over the past few months, WhatsApp has been actively developing its AI chat features, and this upcoming personalized image generator is a testament to Meta’s dedication to innovation.
With these advancements, it’s evident that Meta’s focus on integrating AI and encouraging in-app creativity is stronger than ever.
