HBO’s prequel series to Denis Villeneuve‘s films now has an official release month. The upcoming show, titled Dune: Prophecy, is set to debut on both HBO and Max in November. Alongside this announcement, a new teaser trailer has been released, suggesting the six-episode series will be rich with political intrigue.
This focus is fitting, given that Prophecy delves into the origins of the secretive Bene Gesserit order, a group that plays a pivotal role in shaping the galaxy within the Dune universe. The series is set 10,000 years before the events of Dune and its sequel. According to HBO, the show is inspired by the 2012 novel Sisterhood of Dune, written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.
Alison Schapker, known for her work on shows like Lost, Fringe, and Alias, serves as the showrunner. The cast includes Emily Watson and Olivia Williams as the Harkonnen sisters who founded the Bene Gesserit. Here’s a look at Watson in her full Dune attire:
