The final Deadpool and Wolverine trailer has revealed a character heavily rumored to appear in the highly anticipated MCU film: X-23.
In the trailer below, we see Dafne Keen, fresh from her role as a Jedi in Star Wars: The Acolyte, reprise her role as X-23. This time, she is seen giving a troubled Wolverine a motivational speech.
“Whoever you think I am, you got the wrong guy,” Wolverine, played once again by Hugh Jackman, says. “You were always the wrong guy,” X-23 responds, before adding: “till you weren’t.”
X-23, whose real name is Laura, first appeared in the critically acclaimed Logan, which was once considered Hugh Jackman’s final Wolverine film before the actor decided to return for Deadpool and Wolverine. As a clone of Wolverine, X-23 has similar powers, including retractable claws and a healing factor.
Keen was 11 when she played X-23 in 2017’s Logan. Now 19, she portrays an older Laura who now speaks English fluently.
The trailer doesn’t explain X-23’s appearance in Deadpool and Wolverine, but it undoubtedly has to do with the time/multiverse antics that form the basis of the movie. Other confirmed appearances include Aaron Stanford’s Pyro and Tyler Mane’s Sabretooth, with many more to come.
The final trailer also features never-before-seen shots, including a much better look at villain Cassandra Nova and Lady Deadpool. This time around, there’s a more serious tone, contrasting with the meta jokes we’re used to from previous promotions.
