Microsoft’s latest Xbox price increases took effect worldwide on 1 August 2026. Prices increased by $100 for Xbox models with 512GB of storage and by $150 for 1TB models, while Microsoft also confirmed that it is discontinuing the 2TB model.
The scale of the increases has surprised many gamers. Traditionally, console prices tend to fall as hardware ages and manufacturing becomes more efficient. This generation, however, is moving in the opposite direction.
Microsoft says that storage and memory prices have increased by more than 2.5 times and could double again by autumn 2027. The wider consumer electronics industry is facing the same component pressures, but their impact has been particularly noticeable in the console market.
